FN FS2000 Semi-Automatic Carbine Recall
McLean, Va. – FNH USA has recently discovered that the FN FS2000 semi-automatic
carbine has a safety issue which requires the firearm to be recalled for modification. This safety issue
is a result of the FN FS2000 semi-automatic carbine inadvertently being assembled with the firing pin
of the FN F2000 military carbine. This military firing pin is a heavier design, used to achieve
complete ignition reliability with the harder or denser primers generally used in military-specification
ammunition. The use of this military firing pin has been reported to cause inadvertent slam-fires in
the FN FS2000 when firing with certain types of commercial ammunition currently available in the
United States.
Please be aware that this was an assembly and configuration issue, not a flaw in the FN FS2000
product design. The commercial firing pin was already designed and qualified for use in
the FN FS2000.
This recall covers only the first shipment of approximately 400 FN FS2000 semi-automatic carbines.
All current and future shipments of the FN FS2000 have the correct firing pin installed and are not
subject to this recall. Should you have any questions regarding this recall, please contact Terri Rife
at FNH USA by calling (800) 635-1321, extension 252. Shipping kits will be sent to customers with
instructions on how to return their FN FS2000 firearm and original owner’s manual. The firearm will
be upgraded at no charge and, along with a revised owner’s manual, returned to the customer as
soon as possible.
Consumers may check on the status of their recall return by calling (800) 635-1321, extension 860.
We apologize for this inconvenience. Please be assured this situation has the highest priority at
FNH USA and will be rectified promptly. Thank you for your attention in this matter. |
