Chosen by the U.S. Special Operations Command (USS0COM) as its next generation modular assault rifle, the MK 16 is a 21st century weapon ideal for operations in today’s challenging tactical environment. The MK 16 is a selective-fire 5.56x45mm NATO rifle with both full and semi-automatic capability using a short stroke gas piston system. Three interchangeable barrels can be switched by the individual operator in just minutes for CQC, tactical and precision fire roles. Completely ambidextrous with a fully free-floating barrel, multiple integral MIL-STD 1913 mounting rails and a telescoping, folding stock with adjustable cheekpiece, the MK 16 represents the most innovative and adaptable individual combat rifle ever conceived. The highly ergonomic design commonality of the MK 16 and MK 17 allow for enhanced muscle memory that provides operators a cross-training benefit with both platforms.
