17% lighter and much more compact than the 7.62x51mm M240 B, the MK 48 MOD 1 was designed for USSOCOM to be compact and light enough to keep up with troops as they maneuver on and close with the enemy. It features improved receiver pins, a new gas block cap and a vented handguard with MIL-STD 1913 rails at the 3, 6, and 9 o’-clock positions. The enhanced heat shield design helps improve sustained fire performance and the carry handle is mounted directly to the barrel to further speed barrel changes. A new combination tool for field maintenance is also supplied. One spare barrel is included.
